I host dozens of domains, and ten (10) live WordPress sites with hostmonster. From August 17-18, 2023 the WordPress app, Jetpack, has sent me hundreds of emails that my sites all keep going down. Hundreds of emails -- probably 250+ emails. My sites go down and come back up, repeatedly. I did a live chat and the CSR, supposedly named Moahana, absolutely LIED TO ME twice and blamed me for the problems. I provided a screen shot of the emails and asked her to escalate the chat to a manager and she ended the chat. I know moving all my domains will be a pain, but I am absolutely done with Hostmonster. I hope the next potential customers comes here and sees their 1.8 / 5.0 rating and moves on. Let the market vote with their wallets.

I have been a customer for more than 10 years. The quality of their service is absolutely terrible. They have serious technical issues that they have refused to rectify for years and it has come to a point where working with Hostmonster is no longer viable for us. Their support and service is terrible and continues to decline. My advice is to find another webhost, ANY other host. If you cant find one, start tacking paper flyers to telephone poles, it would be money better spent.

At one time they offered a quality product and because of that they grew and prospered. Today, they acquire the well-performing competition and decimate their support and service, leveling the playing field down to the absolute bottom. As of today, after hours of phone calls, and numerous emails, I'm firing them and going to a company which appreciates my business.

As a website developer and online marketing guy I've used several different hosting providers over the last decade or so and I've had an on-going love hate relationship with Hostmonster for years.

I do have to admit their servers have been a lot more stable over the last 2 years. (in 2015 there was a lot of downtime) And as for their customer service the reps always seem to do their best when it comes to helping us with migrations, databases, email, etc.

If you're wondering if their service is just as bad as everyone says it is 'now'

It is.

See also, they are owned by bluehost.

The UX for fixing issues or navigating within their interface is awful and often creates loops that crash their website.

It would be forgivable if it wasn't for their slimy pricing practices.

I used to refer them as my hosting service of choice, because they were 'cheap', never again.

RUN! I wouldn't I wish I could give lower. I've been with this company for well over a decade and they used to be great. I used to recommend them to clients because of their excellent service. That is no longer the case. Now I've gotten a ridiculous renewal rate that is higher than even the site says is their regular price. And now they force live chat (in India) and no longer post the phone number. And all I get is "sorry for this inconvenience and how they've invested a lot into infrastructure and support? Really I used to call easily and get through with domestic support quickly. Now you are forcing live chat that is outsourced? If that wasn't enough my renewal was upgraded to the highest plan. And then they block access to my files without sending me notifications of and then charge me to get access to them. Seriously?

They have to be the worst host we have ever used. Our site would constantly be down for seemingly no reason. No support, and all overseas support with serious competency issues. Avoid at all costs. There should be a "no star" option on this review, as 1 start is too many.

I am going to change my hosting from this company asap.
# 1.Tried to cancel a domain name. Was told no problem. Went to register it with another company only to find that it is not available. Now find out they cannot cancel it, have to wait 60 days then transfer it.
#2. I have had to call them 3 times in the last 2 days for email problems.
1 call I was on the line for 1:20 mins only to have the customer service person tell me that their servers no longer support Office 365. My issue with my email was unresolved.
#3. Called back the next day, got someone a little better on the line. Resolved issue in 40 mins.
#4. Today, I called in for same problem. Was cut off while the customer support person went to ask a more educated tech support person a question. On hold for customer support....again.

I should bill them for my time!!!

10 year customer and I was shocked at the horrible customer service I received today. I got so angry I was literally cursing over the phone. Not only was I told I wasn't intelligent enough to understand the difference between DNS name registration and DNS name servers, I was told I had to pay them to get access to what I already paid for. Then in the next breath I was told that if I did pay their blackmail they couldn't guarantee to restore all of my previous DNS settings that they deleted to extort more money out of me.

Wow, just wow. After an emergency outage that Hostmonster did nothing to resolve I've happily migrated my WebHosting, Email, and DNS to another provider.
