Terrible at correcting issues that they caused. Had them for years but since this past December when they changed the platform; it has been a nightmare to get into my account that I had for years. They keep making excuses and opening new tickets. I had to switch to another company because they deleted all of my websites and now I have to file a complaint. Very disappointing.

Please sort these reviews by newest! For the past two years, HostGator's average review is 1.2. Any average you see higher than that is based on reviews over three years old, and their ratings have been on a rapid decline since 2018 (much like their service).

Double charges, gaslighting customer service, unreliable uptime, ever-slowing servers, outdated software versions (such as PHP) running on the platform, and general untrustworthiness. As a website designer, I have about 160 domains with them and more than 200 websites. When this company was Texas-based, it was good. Ever since they were consumed, it's been a downhill rollercoaster ride. Lately, they have been double charging me for domains. It's real obvious. You can show customer service the duplicate charges. They either refuse to do anything about it, or send a refund up their chain of command, only to have someone else squash the refund.

Paid for ecommerce that doesn't work. "Customer service" does nothing to help. They "escalate" that case and nothing happens, no progress made in 3 1/2 months. Missed all Holiday sales, my business is on hold. If anything changes I will update my review.

Had my site migrated over from Go Daddy. They said it would take 2 days. It has been two months and my business has been without a website. I called several times and they say I supervisor will call me back and no one has called. It has greatly impacted my business and awful customer service.

After being a faithful customer of HostGator for over 6 years, my recent experience with the company was a complete letdown. I placed my trust in them to host my website and manage my business, but that trust was shattered when they deleted my website and all my data without any prior warning. This sudden shutdown caused a major disruption to my company and was a complete disaster.

Despite being a long-time customer, I was disappointed to receive little to no support from their customer service when I reached out for help. The shocking loss of all my hard work and valuable data was devastating to my business, and I was forced to re-build.

I am extremely disappointed with HostGator and their handling of this situation. They have shown to be an unreliable and untrustworthy hosting provider. The careless deletion of my website and all my data is unacceptable and I strongly advise others to consider this before choosing to work with HostGator.

Used to be a great company, but has gone dramatically downhill in the last year. Tech support via phone never knows how to resolve an issue so it either gets "escalated" or, if they sense you are unhappy, you get abruptly disconnected so you can't take the survey about their service. Escalation is handled through email and again, never resolved. It's pathetic. Unfortunately, there's no way to complain to a manager or get decent assistance. The only answer is to move my accounts and my clients, too, and just take a loss on the prepaid hosting.

They resolved my issues in a fair and honest manner. I currently use and will continue to use Host Gator for my website and hosting needs. The manager who was responsible for the resolution needs to be put in charge of corporate training and moved to a higher position. They are lucky to have her.

Terrible product / support.
Service has steadily declined over the years whilst costs simply keep going up. Chat support is poor - rarely understand the issue or can fix it. Can't even answer basic questions. Have routinely been told "not our hosting" when it is. No ticket system and no phone support. What is a 10 minute call with a competent technician elsewhere is a 1-2 hour zero result with HostGator. cPanel functions commonly available elsewhere removed from this platform. My clients commonly report no access to site or e-mail servers on block lists. Zero care from HostGator. Currently cannot access any sites or mail unless we use VPN. Not receiving the service we paid for. Avoid.
